Unusual training

Skye walked calmly into the training area with her head full of thought. She had been somewhat distracted from her training by the passing events, both with the war and with the words which she had heard pour out of Azalel’s mouth. All those thoughts and emotions for him whirled around in her head, colliding and contorting until they made no sense. Each thought was like a tornado, spinning out of control and on an unknown path, destroying anything that tried to stop it. No matter what, Skye could not clear her head. She felt blessed that the Jedi could only manipulate minds and not read them, else she would be excluded from her training – and that was not what she wanted.

Her hand trembled over her lightsaber and as she gripped it, her fingers couldn’t find the control to grip it tightly. She ignited it and stepped in front of the holographic projector. Using her peripheral vision, she saw a mentor pulling down the blinds, making the room instantly dark. She stood poised in front of the projector and waited for the mentor to turn it on. The second they did, light flooded through the room, giving it an eerie aura but Skye tried to remain focus on the group of holographic storm troopers standing in front of her.

She raised her lightsaber and began training. She began thrusting her lightsaber through the air and through the forms of the projections, each one falling to the floor as she did so. However, one action of swinging her saber so that the trooper’s helmet was knocked off made her stop in her tracks. Her eyes grew excessively wide and a holographic bullet punched her chest. The projector turned off and the mentor tutted while Skye stood there frozen. The face that had lurked under the helmet was Azalel’s. At least, she had seen it as Azalel’s. Was he really taking over her thoughts in that manner – she couldn’t even train without thinking of him?!

Slowly, Skye’s eyes returned to their normal size and her lightsaber was put away on her belt. All of her actions were slow, as if someone had slowed down time and her mentor sensed that she was uneasy. Skye felt the hand of her mentor on her shoulder.

“Child, I sense distress in you.” The mentor said, capturing Skye’s attention.

“No, I’m fine. Excuse me, I suddenly feel unwell.” She said moving to the window and opening the blinds and windows. As she did so, the mentor nodded and left the room.

Skye say down on one of the chairs that stood in the corner of the room, sinking into the soft fabric and allowing her red hair to fall elegantly down her shoulders. She sighed and rubbed her forehead as she tried to make sense of her thoughts. It was useless however and she growled out in frustration at herself.

Mercedes wandered through the training area, sighing and resting her hand upon the lightsaber at her hip. Her left hand reached across her body to pull it out of her belt and then she ignited it, not noticing the other female in the room until she was too far into her movements to do anything. She turned this way and that, defending off imaginary enemies with the skill she'd learnt from a very young age.

Mercedes slowed down and put her saber back into her belt, smiling at the girl and taking a swig of water from the can she'd brought with her. She offered it to the girl, who was looking slightly pale.

"Hi. You look a bit down. You alright Miss?" She asked, letting her common accent show through her rock chick style and demanour.

Skye shut her eyes and allowed her thoughts to capture her and take her on a journey through her contorted mind. So many things kept pressing against her and it wasn’t long until she felt dizzy though she was in too much of a trance to bring herself out of it. Memories and visions of people crowded her head and so when the sweet female voice rung out through Skye’s head abruptly, she jumped about half a mile into the air.

She looked to where the voice had come from and was greeted by a young girl staring at her with her big eyes. Her purple hair caught Skye’s attention and Skye concluded that it would be nice not to be the only Jedi to have bright hair. Every other Jedi had blonde, brown or black hair. A few had dull red hair, though nothing like Skye’s wild tresses.

“Yes, I’m quite alright – just a little headache is all. I’m Skye by the way. What rank are you?” She enquired.

Mercedes smiled at the girl and stepped towards her.

"I'm a Jedi Knight. Just come out for a bit of physical work, ya know?" She grinned and pulled her purple hair out the of the ponytail it was in, puling it back again in a slightly tidier mess.

A quick grin flashed on Merc's face before she mock curtsied and got back to her training, her breath coming in quick rasps she she whirled skillfully around and leaped high into the air.

Skye couldn't return the girl's friendly smile no matter how much she tried. She felt both physically and mentally ill. She was so confused and had no idea what to think about anything any more. She didn't know how much longer she could keep on making up excuses for the council on why she wasn't performing well.

She nodded to the Jedi Knight and allowed her to get on with her training. She watched her for a bit before going straight back into her whirlwind of a mind. The thoughts all got too much for Skye and the next thing she could see or hear was complete black...

Merc tried to carry one training, but soonenough the curiousity got the better of her and she went to sit down next to the girl.

"So what about you? Rank? Name?" Merc spoke easily, her confidence showing through her purple hair and punk rocker style. She smiled in a friendly manner and turned towards the girl more, Merc's own knees bumping into hers. She put her lightsaber back into her belt with a flash and carefully placed her hands in her lap, awaiting an answer from the very quiet and secluded girl.

But the way this girl was acting made Merc all the more curious, and her light hearted humour and kind eyes made it difficult for anybody not to trust her...

Skye felt as if the whole world had come crashing down on her shoulders. Weight suddenly hit her down into the chair and thoughts swirled around her head like prison bars, not letting anything in or out other than those thoughts. Her head was spinning and she didn't see or hear Mercedes as she stopped training and came over to Skye. To Skye, she was trapped in the darkness, unable to get out. Unable to see. Unable to hear. Unable to breath. Then, Skye felt herself drift into unconsciousness...

Merc moved swiftly toward the girl, realising almost instantly that something was very wrong. She tried to wake the girl but nothing happened and Merc began to panic. She remembered some first aid training she had done when she was younger and checked the girl's breathing and pulse. Both were fine. She was just unconcsious.

Merc sighed and pushed a few stray hairs away from the girl's pretty face. She bent down and picked her up gently. She was heavy, considering Merc didn't exactly go around carrying Jedi Knights, but Merc managed to lay her down onto the floor with no really nasty bumps nor bruises. Instead, she put the girl into the recovery position and very slowly and quietly began to chant the words of a prayer her family had passed down the generations which was meant to induce restful sleep and a swift wake.

Blackness enveloped Skye for several moments. Then, a pinpoint of light started getting bigger and more colourful. Within seconds a scene unfolded before her. She watched herself hanging out washing in a barren desert away from any civilisation. Her form was scarred and battered with a depressed look on her face. Then, out came Azalel, his form also bruised and scarred. His face too was solemn and it was clear by the look on the two figures' faces that they didn't like each other anymore. Skye felt like she wanted to scream out but she stayed frozen.

Then slowly, the scene started to fade and blackness enveloped her once more. A gentle chanting was presently heard by Skye and she started to fight away the blackness. After a few minutes, Skye opened her eyes panting and looking paler than she ever had done before... She saw a form in the corner of her eye and she turned to it. The same purple haired girl was there looking over her. In a weak and strained voice, Skye mumbled; "What just happened?"

Merc smiled weakly at the girl and moved closer to her to take her hand comfortingly. She didn't quite know what to say or do with this stranger and after her little episode she felt extremely uncomfortable.

"I'm not entirely sure of what just happened. You blacked out. For a while. Are you ill?" Merc was concerned but she didn't in any way want to pry into this girl's private life. If there was anything she especially hated it was people who tried to know everything about you as soon as you meet. That and people that try to psycho-analyse you upon first meeting as well.

Merc let go of the girl's hand and looked at her intently for just a moment, trying to make sure she really was okay and fully awake. She was groggy but then again that was to be expected, was it not? There was no reason for Merc to worry. The girl might have just over-exerted herself.

Skye's hand was cold against the warmth of the young girl's and Skye found herself shaking violently. Her eyes had lost her sparkle and her skin was both pale and cold. The only thing that remained radiant was her fiery red hair.

She raised a shaking hand to her forehead and she rested her head in her hand. For a moment, she concentrated on breathing until it was slow and regular once more. When she felt that she had calmed down enough to talk to the individual situated next to her, she looked at her with the tiniest of smiles.

"No no. I'm fine thank you. I-I just need to rest I think." She wasn't about to tell this girl that she thought she was breaking the laws of the Jedi...

Merc sensed that the girl wasn't telling her everything, but she didn't push things. It was up to her if she wanted to talk. With a soft sigh, Merc nodded and rocked back on her kneels, standing up and offering a hand to hep the girl up onto her feet. She looked like she needed a stiff drink and a hot bah - she was trembling and she looked like she'd seen a ghost.

Merc smiled as she waited for the girl to take her hand, wondering if she even would, or if she would be stubborn and try to get up on her own. Either way - it was lucky that Merc was there with the girl, for who knew what could have happened had she not been around to keep an eye on her.

Skye felt lucky to have Mercedes here. She didn't know the girl well but when she offered Skye her hand to help her up, Skye managed a little smile before grabbing her hand. When she pulled herself up she practically fell into Mercedes, her pale skin and shaking body was making her look more ill than ever.
